The Elevation Project

Elevation Project

The word “Elevation” according to the Dictionary means “the height to which something is elevated or to which it rises”.

The project is to encourage and empower the group of people from age 19 to 25 years old, to make decisions that will shape the future of their lives and raise their hope to have a better life. Our target groups will be lone parents and people from ethnic minorities’ background. The project will inspire them to have self-worth, confidence and feel capable of doing something worthwhile with their lives.

The project will have sessions and workshops on:

  • Self-empowerment: self-awareness, self-analysis and self-improvement.
  • Getting into work: Job search, CV writing, job applications, interview techniques, media skills
  • Getting back into education
  • Basic skills: Initial help and complete training in the following:
  • Time Management
  • Money Management
  • IT skills
  • Literacy and Numeracy if required to get them ready for a level 2 course
  • Childcare management for a constructive lifestyle

We will provide successful Professionals as role models to engage the younger people. There will be group discussions, mentoring in groups and on 1:1 basis. There will be provision of information via community newsletter and website. There will be Community social events including awards for achievements as they progress through the programme.

The project participants will be introduced to different ways of getting an education apart from the usual “conservative” way. Finding one’s purpose in life and finding what one is good at and enjoy doing is the secret of having a fulfilled life. We will work with them to find their purpose in life. We will provide a training programme that will help this group of people to break down barriers that hinder them in finding employment, undertaking an apprenticeship or progressing to further education.
