Elevate Project is a programme of activities providing support to unemployed or economically inactive individuals aged 19+ to overcome barriers to learning and/or employment.

Starting in August 2014, there will be confidence building and personal development to assist in job search. There will be taster work experience including voluntary work to get participants ready for future full or part-time work.

Our target groups are people of ethnic minorities’ background, the Asians, Africans and Caribbeans especially those from the disadvantaged areas of Bedford.

The project is on-going with sessions and workshops on:

  • Self-empowerment: self-awareness, self-analysis and self-improvement.
  • Getting into work: Job search, CV writing, job applications, interview techniques, media skills
  • Getting back into education
  • Basic skills: Initial help and complete training in the following:
    • Time Management
    • Money Management
    • IT skills
    • Literacy and Numeracy if required

There will be group discussions and mentoring. Each participant will have at least one hour with a Mentor every week. There will be Community social events including awards for achievements at the end of the programme.
